There are various guide lines for time intervals between specific tests, specially mammograms after age of 35. Similarly its good to track existing disorders affecting vital organs, like heart, kidney, liver or any other systemic problems including high BP, Diabetes, cholesterol etc. Proper management is possible only if periodically checked.

Latent period depends on nature of disease & body response towards that disease. Heart disease, High blood pressure, Degenerative, Cancer diseases have more latent period before being symptomatic . Once it crosses certain threshold or body resistance then the disease expresses its presence by symptoms. Corporate House, Employee health check ups – it has its own importance – oblige employees by detecting any disease in early stage or even avoiding a disease by periodic check up. This helps decrease absence at work place and further more a healthy employee will be more efficient.
It also helps companies keep health and insurance costs down. Instead of bearing expenses of medical treatment after a disease has expressed itself it is best to catch it young.
IHC : How do you do the Health assessment looking at different reports?
Dr. Kalra : Once a person is checked-in for a health check up, our medical office advices various tests depending on various factors like age, gender, occupation, regularity of previous tests and existing problems. Blood tests are used to scan various anomalies in the circulatory and digestive system. Pulmonary function tests are used to scans lung functions. Similarly Radiology tests scan various body parts and Tread-Mill-Test for the heart. Different reports individually give information about different systems of body.
Each medical institution uses its own scoring and scale of good health. However once all these tests are done we get a fairly good idea on a person’s physical and mental well-being and collectively they guide the physician to make the client healthier and more useful human being not only for himself, but for family, society and nation in the long run.
